Funeral as reunion

This is the third night of my Uncle Fidel's funeral, third night of our relatives from provinces in keep coming to see his remains, third night of having not enough sleep since his body was placed in our house, third night that his wife is still missing...

I am not familiar with most of our relatives, specially those from provinces, most of the time i will just give them a smile and chat to them a little, some keep hugging me and asking how am i.When they call me cousin i just say hi and followed by how are you and after that i secretly ask my older brothers who are they? who's their father? shame on me but i really felt guilty about it, they know me but honestly i am not familiar with them. I grow up here in Manila,my family move to Manila when i was just two years old, from then on, i never go home to the place where i was born. That explains why i am not familiar with them.

Sad to say, the only time that we get to know and meet majority of our relatives is when one of the family or relatives dies In short the funeral serves as reunion, sad reunion actually except for my immediate family we see to it that New Years is our reunion.

As i am looking at them,i realized that women are minimal in ur clan majority of them are boys.My Uncle Larry told me last night that you can count the girls in our clan, for fun he tried to count from first degree cousins we are only eleven girls (two from our family) out of 45 from seven siblings whew! what a big family. Not to mention the second degree relatives.

but i saw the delights from my Uncle eyes looking at his nephews and nieces.Hmn,then he said that after a week we are all back to our normal life. After the internment we don't know when will we going to see each other again.

But i hope that we can meet in different circumstances and occasions not only during funerals

I leaned my head on Uncle's shoulder, suddenly i feel that i miss my Dad, then he give me a hugged as he put a cap in my head, told me to take a rest as he knows that i am sick for almost two weeks now.

You laugh at me bec i am different, i laugh at you because you're all the same

Same as with me! I don't know or haven't met my mother's side family. All I know when I was little, my mother will take me to her cousin's funeral. She also didn't know that his cousin died. His cousin soul visited us in our house and made our dogs howl for an hour. Really creepy story. First time I heard the steps of a dead soul's visit. From there I can feel and see unusual things or creature.

About my father's side they always visit us in Manila and will even stay overnight. But the third cousins and far, far cousins...we don't know who they are . I remembered my sisters when they were single that time in college. They had a bf and they never thought that those guys are our far, far cousins. My parents got angry! My father's eldest sisters children are mostly politicians. 2nd sis are bastards and robbers. Eldest brother are medicine side of work. My father's children, us, are on the entertainment jobs. And the youngest brother are PAL (palamunin). It feels good to go visit my province because we were like superstars. Waving here and there and they will keep on callingg your name again and again. I'm telling you, it's easy to become the mayor in that place! And they will shout: "WOW MANILA GIRLS HAVE WHITER LEGS!" I always prepare money to give to my grand sons and grand daughters. This is very long.....i'll stop here now.

CONDOLENCE to you my friend. Sleep a lot and relax ok!

Heartfelt Condolences

Times of diffculty tend to bring together member of a particular group.
In your case it is your family.
Two odd years ago it was the whole of mankind, after the disaster in SE Asia... It is however a shame that one needs to wait for times of hardship to get to communicate with their similars.

Had the same experience a couple months back on an uncle's funeral rites...Seeing all my cousins on my father side with their kids grown up as big as me...

Time for the seasons of getting to know the kins...

Take good care of yourself...
