"Super" means great, more, excellent, better, higher,...etc. so, "Supercilious knowledge" means great knowledge, know more than others, ..etc. Is the answer so simple? or there is someother implication?

I know people like to use the fancy word but cannot pronouce correctly. Or they think it is wright word and use wrong word.
