Great It seems everyone likes to be part of a bigger whole. My parents had a boat and where ever they arrived friends were easily made, providing they shared the same hobby. We then sat on board of a strangers boat and ate and talked with new friends, only because they had a boat too. And the greeting was also universal. When another boat would pass by, both owners placed the pointing finger in the air as a greeting sign. Some weeks ago I was at an amusement park. I was there with two friends. One friend is partly handicapped so we had a wheelchair. This wheelchair had the benefit of entering the attractions through different doors, which also usually meant a decrease in waiting times. And there we, of course, met more handicapped people. My friend likes to talk, so she easily bonded with the other people there. There were a lot of common topics to talk about between everyone in the chairs. It reminded me a lot of my previous boat experience; people in the same situation - good or bad - tend to bond easily. For me very good to see how everyone had a great time there. |

Well as a child I had a small pack of friends, but for the most time I was alone. Expect when I was on the baot with my parents. As a kid always a nice thing to be in and on the water. But now I have a small group of friends I like and trust, but I also like blogging and being a part of a bigger whole, like with concerts. Although I must admit I like the music the most. Music was my good friend since a very early age, so it got stuck with me, just like a warm blanket

I have seen the "wheelchair access" abused at Disneyland and other amusement parks when the "disignated cripple" rents a wheelchair for the day so their group can get to the head of the line. But I feel that those who do help the handicap get around the park should be able to go to the head of the line because they are helping that person enjoy the day at the park. As for bonding with total strangers, just a smile will do and you'll be surprised at how fast strangers will warm up to you. VICKY

Good blog - thanks I had a lot of friends as a kid, but where I really felt part of a bigger whole was when by myself in the mountains. It soothed my soul and helped make me feel like I belonged in the universe.

When you stand on the Great Wall of China at the end, you will feel China is so broad, ancient Chinese legends, thousands of years of ups and downs, you feel life is so beautiful

Muffles, I join my friend Nan applauding your sincerity and naturalism employed in your blogging! I read your China intimate tour before, your writing style is consistent, u dig every true word fm your bottom. I dont and cant do that. I usually would cover my real emotion and blog indirectly in more literate way - maybe bcoz i am not that honest to myself. Your boats are those boat houses in Amsterdam? As for belonging to a bigger whole, fm kid to now, I feel attached to only some group. Some ppl would rebuke me becoz of the big difference in ideas and lack of understanding. And I think birds of a feather gather together is true. And it's the same-minds that bond. Some you'd talk more and feel more warm with, some you'd not start contact. But I or we might have double personality, sometimes we just start the good communication with ppl very different fm us. Have a good Sunday!

But so far, and especially online, I've met many great people. Many different and without Internet I would never have met them, only because I am a shy person. So this tells me we don't only need the net to find interesting people. They are out there already I like honesty. It's something I feel comfortable with. But I think the best way you can be is just being yourself. That is good enough. Being honest towards yourself is good enough in my opinion. No my dad made his own boat many years ago Have a great Sunday too
