BEIJING on alert...

Bird flu has appeared in four provinces and region in China since late September, the onset of the annual Flu season--Inner Mongolia, Hunan, Anhui, and Liaoning province.

In order to curb the spread of bird flu, Beijing municipal government has ordered the shutdown of live poultry and pet birds market, a day after China announced Three possible human cases.

China health minister Gao Quiang warned and urged all government departments concern about the complexity of the avian flu case and asked for prompt reports of outbreaks to keep the virus spreading.

Three migrations route paths of the migratory bird pass through China and these birds , believed to be the carriers of the H5N1 strain virus. Deadlier than the SARS virus, pneumonia-like respiratory infection that killed almost 800 people worldwide in a matter of months.

Government health authorities is on investigation about the death of a 12 year old girl who died last month in Hunan province . Initial findings said that she died from pneumonia but a call for help for the World Health Organization to investigate further. Her brother and a teacher from the same county suffered also from bird flu like symptoms but recovered, authorities not discounting the possibilities of a bird flu case.

Bird flu has claimed more than 60 victims in Southeast Asia since year 2003.

World Health Organization is on high alert level and precautionary measures in affected areas are being conducted in anticipation of a worldwide pandemic .

"It's only a matter of time, before an avian flu virus, most likely H5N1, acquires the ability, from human to human, sparking the outbreak of human pandemic influenza,"World Health Organization Director General Lee Jong Wook said in a three day council meeting held in Geneva.
