An Amazing Man

My father was an amazing man.
He said to me, “remember when
we used to take the lawn chairs out
and look for meteors?”
I tell him that I do remember
that and how he taught
me the names of the stars.
I will never forget the tomatoes
as big as your fist.
No man has grown better that I know of.
My father was an amazing man.

“Do you remember the seashells
we used to find on Oahu?”
Yes, the tiger and the pink.
I’ve always loved the beach.
“What about the arrowheads?
You used to love finding them.”
That was a lot of fun.
We can go fishing in Erie.
They have a ramp that goes right to
the water.
My father was an amazing man.

“I can’t wait to go fishing
with you and the again.”
We’ll go as soon as you’re out
and it is spring.
“Good, yes I’d like to go.”
I am so tired now.”
I’d better let you get some rest.
I Love you a lot, Dad.
“I know you do. I Love you a lot too.”
Good night, Dad.
My father was an amazing man.
What an amazing man.

Go,
Thank you. He died Tuesday and today (Saturday) was his funeral. It seems so rushed. I still can hardly believe he is gone.

Thank you, you two.
EZ,
Yes. Well, the pastor said that death is just another transition of form, so hopefully he's right.
Nam,
It is still hard to believe he's gone. He used to tell us he was like Superman when we were little. He was doing better until the heart attack, so it was easy to believe he was invincible.
