Home Remedies That Work

It's funny but I always thought that man made medicines worked better than the homemade stuff. I guess because it's backed by scientists. But the home stuff has been backed by years upon years of women using them. I think what's tainted the homemade remedy's reputation are the ones that don't work, but still get strung along somehow despite that fact. Well, here are some that I know for certain that work, because I use them myself. These three are much better and faster acting than any store bought medicines for them.

Parsley: My gets stomach aches after eating anything with tomato in it. I just give her a little of this (I like to use fresh but dried will work) and it works faster than the yucky medicines, is much better for her, the fresh even has a lot of vitamin A and she enjoys it. I'd read of this home remedy in a healthy cooking book.

Cloves: I had one heck of a tooth ache just about a year ago. The tooth ache med. pain reliever from the tube worked temporarily, got all over my mouth, made my mouth numb in other places and didn't taste so good. Well, my friend from India suggested I try chewing on some whole dried cloves right near the tooth that hurt until I could see the dentist the next day. It worked great. It was even a little numb when I saw the dentist the following day. I also like cloves because they remind me of a nice ham dinner.

Hot Tea: This I use to clear up hiccups quickly. I had read theories on the causes of hiccups and the one that seemed most reasonable was mucus that settled on the flap in your throat that lets both air and food through. The other theory was that it was jumping starting the heart again. Clear! LOL! That didn't seem right, so I went with the first theory. When I got hiccups, I used hot water and they were gone in seconds. I've tried this for years and it has not failed to work. The water had cleared the mucus away. Don'tcha just love my blogs, lol! Anyway, I usually use tea as it taste better than water.

Okay, anyone else got any that they know really, really, really works? As in you have tried it yourself not once, but several times and they actually work?

these are good..

I recently burned my hand a bit on the hot exhaust pipe.. by some means it did not get the puffy look.. but the burned skin finally dried.. and was removed.. I did not put a lot of junk on it..just wash my hands as normal.. and it's healed and is not leaving a bit two tone scar..

I'm not saying this a a rememdy.. but .. I bet if I'd put on a thousand creams I'd have a two toned scar.. don't try this at home..

Touch,
Yeah, sometimes less is more. I remember when the doctor stitched my pinky finger. The side that he pulled tightly scared, and the side that he stitched losely healed up without heavy scaring. Odd, you would have thought it would be the other way around. Glad your hand is okay.

Just like herbal medicines ...to think that these remedies are more safe than drugs made in labs...lots of organic values too!

Fedders,
That's true. And just like adult medicines, the herbs can have a different and harmful effect on children. It's best to ask the pediatrician before giving anything to wee ones, but for us big folks, it's great.

I have a neighbor who swear by boiling fresh mint leaves for upset stomach. He drinks it like a tea. With burns and cuts,i found that if i cut out sweets for a few days,i heal faster.A fewe times this year i was feeling run down,so i started eating walnuts, and felt better. They are full of vitamin c .Aujh handful has more than a bag of oranges. For athletes foot I put garlic powder in my work boots,it works well and is natural.

Mi,
I think there's merit to the sugar thing. I wonder if this is part of the reason diabetics have so much trouble healing.

Going 'back to nature' is nothing more than using the raw materials before they've been watered down. These sorts of remedies have been used for as long as we can tell - worked then and still do now.
On the scientists front, it was them who insisted the earth was flat and ever since then I have an in-built 'natural' mistrust - especially where my own well-being is concerned.
Think of this one for a minute. Nettles sting and the larger 'older' ones can be quite painful. Where nettles grow you nearly always find dock plants. Rub dock leaves (yound ones) onto the nettle stings and it will take away the pain almost immediately and reduces the horrible white lumps. That in itself is great but it's the fact that 'mother nature' grows these two plant together that gets me.

TG,
That facinates me too. Nature is so complex with the limited number of genes it has to work with. Wild snap dragons also grow in the woods where mosquitos seem to hang out. They get rid of the itch of from them. Certainly there seems to be some design in this. Why should nature benefit mankind? My cat can't use the snapdragons, only I can.

Chinese tea serves for slimming body and to cleanse the oil inside our body.

Honey drinks is for calming effects to both our body and mind (of course, pls dont make it too regular coz of the sugar level). It also nurture our skin

Actually, there are people who boil aloe vera and eat them (of course u must know the method to prepare them). It is said to make our throat less sore.

Toukki,
Yeah, the green tea is big now, as it is supposed to burn 200 calories if you drink three cups a day. That helps.
And I've always liked honey. Yum.
I'll stay away from eating aloe vera, though, as I don't know how to prepare it and would make myself sicker, lol.....
Thank you,
Pup

Virgo, no wonder I don't have the gout. I eat a lot of cherries.
I'll get some vit. E to keep on hand then. Hopefully, I won't need to use it though. OH, yeah, I had to give my daughter an oatmeal bath once when she had a rash. It worked for awhile. Clogged the tub though, even though it was made for the tub. I think applying it right on to the rash like you did is a better method.
Thank you,
