Chinese Blogger Registration

I read in Yahoo News just now that citizens of China will have to register their real name in order to blog. I'm an open book, so I'd have no qualms about this, but then again, I don't live in a country that would punish me for having different political ideas. Or maybe I do, lol! Anyway, I don't think the US is as bad. So to the point, I think this is a big mistake.

Think for a moment of a tea kettle. It's got a hole in the top to do more than whistle when your tea water is done. The steam is released so that the lid doesn't blow off your kettle. What's going to happen when people can't blow off innocent steam? I think they might actually act upon their opinions when they feel they have no other recourse. This could do more to harm the Chinese government than help it.

Like the parent who is too strict with his the no longer becomes an independent thinker. Every act must be dictated until it is all time consuming for the parent. Instead, the smart parent allows the reasonable freedoms to foster a mentally healthy . Like , the mental health of the citizens of China would greatly be improved if they too could be given the chance to act responsibly before they are reprimanded.

Why do I care about China? Because I am a citizen of the world and have a responsibility then to stand up for all violations of human rights. But more so because it is a mistake that the Chinese Government could easily rectify.

So how will this affect Chinese bloggers on AFF? I haven't read one political blog, well, except my own, but I write about everything, lol! I've read jokes, poems, stories, but nothing political from others. Then again, I can't read Mandarin, so I am missing out on a lot. Anybody know what I'm missing?

one thing for sure.. you did not miss the point.. and you have put some very good reasoning to support the point that you make..

what a waste of time.. to monitor people to such a degree.. not only are we talking about people we are talking about 100's of millions of people.. it's pure madness...

they can't put the Genie back in the bottle, and now that the Genie knows what's what.. then they Genie may just work some magic that throws one hell of a wrench in such plans..

now with satellite internet.. people will find a way.. to do what they need to do to circumvent this .. what China is not paying attention to is that there are many many Chinese people who have learn a lot about IT services.. so they will find some creative ways to challenge this..

China is afraid it's society is moving faster than it can manage.. but the problem is not people talking on the internet.. the problem is China won't stop it's massive manufacturing machine.. which is pumping money in faster that the government can figure out how to hide it.. and maybe even rip it off... from the people.. and the people are becoming wiser... and exposing those in control.. and they know with such exposure that a backlash is headed their way.. supported by a few 100 million people.. who just don't want to put up with it anymore.. and the world is watching so they can't do another Tienneman Square.. and get away with it... without some serious back drafting by corporate supporters.. and a world storm of political controversy..

so they try to go to the weakest link.. the people .. and re-contain them.

That's true, if there's a will, there's a way.
I just wonder how they will go about getting everyone to register their name. What of those who already have blogs. There are so many websites to blog on that I don't see how it can be fully monitored. Well, maybe that will create some jobs, lol!

Davanci... we hear of the public things of America and such.. but when I often think of the regions of Nordic countries that fund and promote so many factions especially in the African continent.. and other regions.. with some very intense human abuse outcomes.. in the funding and support such factions receive and then a policy shift turn and then arms the other side.. so we really have to look at the world spectrum in the subject perspective you speak of..

but on to the Chinese thing.. governments of all countries have massive supercomputers, that have bots of all sort that scan the internet for key words and phrases .. but we have to consider.. there are some controls in the system.. which is how the Chinese can tell certain companies what content they cannot make available and by some means they shut that content out..at whim and want.. so it's not as limitlessly connect as they would like us to think.. but there are people who know how to circumvent it to a certain degree

they I'm sure can satellite block out whole sectors of IP addresses.. to a particular region or area.. or have routers that can route it thru their screening mechanism.. everything that's done on here leaves a footprint.

Davinci,
That's why I wrote that first paragraph, "I don't live in a country that would punish me for my political views. Or maybe I do, lol!"
For the most part, though, I like to stick to the topic. If I'm talking about the US, I talk about the US. If I'm talking about China you can bet that's the topic I'll stick to from beginning to end. Must come from my days as an English major. You begin with a topic sentence and then add supporting sentences.
But on the subject of Bush. I too saw that movie Fahrenheit. It does kinda make you wonder if we are as free as we think. I was cracking up at the homeland securty part where one officer had to patrol an entire shore line by himself. Meanwhile security is upped in airports. Didn't they ever hear of Paul Revere? One if by land two if by sea, lol!
To change the subject, lol, I'm off to supper. Gotta be careful though, as I've now lost 35 lbs and want to keep it off me.

I didn't know anything about that....only learn and read what bloggers are trying to tell me or us.

You open this topic and made my curiosity wonder.......I want to read more comments from others about these.

Thanks for bringing this out in the open!

Virgo,
I don't put that much weight into my words. I'm not out to cause a revolution, ha! I just think it's wrong and could be easily corrected. I'm an advocate of peaceful solutions to social problems.
I did note that no Chinese responded. And knew that that in and of itself was a response. I'd hate to have to live that way. I believe not only in making the world a better place for myself, but for my children and my children's children. Sometimes you have to stick your own neck out to do that.

Ive heard about the govt banning Google in China just coz because google has the latest updates (oh yeah they have the free movies, etc). I do believe Korea has been practicing the "Register for blog" and China has been following this rules in order to control the blog access. In Malaysia, the govt only know how to complain which in luck that i dont have to register my blog LOL...

I think the Internet is growing faster than any governement can control. We are talking to people around the globe cheaply and frequently. We certainly are a more unified world for it. Hopefully, this will continue.

Virgo,
Oh, sorry, I got a phone call from my best friend. She just had the ceremony and wanted to let me know how it went. I didn't get to go to the wedding. It was all thrown together in little more than a week on an island off the coast of Florida, but I will get to see her in a couple of weeks in Florida. I can't wait. My parents are taking me and my two kids to Disney World. While they watch them after nine pm, I'll go out with my best friend and her new hubby to the Disney night clubs on Pleasure Island. That is going to be fun! So I get family fun and gal fun.
