Sexual harassment...

Saturday I was at the Home Depot buying plumbing fixtures and the attendant was a woman. This is pretty normal for Home Depot as many of the associates in all departments are women. I had a few questions and the woman appeared to be knowledgeable about the product I was buying... without crossing the 'bad taste' line I thanked her and headed to the cashier to make my purchase.

The fact is this woman had a solid body like a fitness instructor and was very attractive. Guaranteed she is tired of men hitting on her for a date. Jokingly, I'll usually say "I wish I had a dollar for every time some guy asked you out for a date" and wait for their honest response. This time I was silent. Some of the women have told harassment is the worst part of the job.

I'm sure those guys who ask her out think it's appropriate to do so, but if they knew they were being filmed they would act totally different for what they do is a form of sexual harassment.

Harassment comes in different styles and levels. For years, I've noticed it on dating sites. Today was a good example... I scanned the profile of a 59 year old woman seeking a marriage relationship. Stated in her profile was her sincerity and a special update stating not to send her nude photos or asking for a fast fling. Obviously, some man (or men) sent a nude photo in an attempt to turn her on but the reality is... it turned her off!

There is a time and place for nearly everything. I know there are other Friend finder websites for members with specific desires that this website doesn't offer. For example if a gay man started sending solicitation messages to heterosexual men, I'm certain a complaint to management would have that profile deactivated. However, the same behavior on a gay or alternative lifestyle website would be considered normal.

It bothered me to read a profile where a woman had to warn men that improper behavior will not be tolerated.
