Happy Valentine's Day --- Learn to Love Ourselves

A boy, eight years old, asked his mom how he should spend the Valentine's Day. His mother asked him with a smile, "You know what Valentine's Day means?" His looked at his mother attentively and said, "Just like you bought Chocolate for Dad." Funny: even a wants to celebrate a Werstern holiday for lovers. Those who do not have lovers should know how to celebrate Valentine's Day. As far as I am concerned, on this special day I think learning to love ourselves first is necessary.

We need to learn to love ourselves. Those who do not have ability to love themselves will never know how to love other people. Loving oneself concerns the aspect of trying to stay happy by himself. Only happy people know to pass their happiness to others and to help those who are struggling with their lives. How I loved myself on this Valentine's day? Today I went to one of my friends' home to cook for her family together with another friend, for she is not in good condition. We had a wonderful lunchtime there and I am happy what I have done for her. And then I went to the Beauty Parlor for a SPA and then had a dinner with my mind and my body. See I enjoyed this Valentine's Day much without love.

Learning to love ourselves before we love someone else is a required course.

The closest I've got to 'love' even though it isn't 'yet' is in China at the moment visiting friends and family for CNY and won't be back until the end of Feb. In her absence, I cooked my 'best attempt' at the Chinese method stir fry she taught me. And sat with my meal, my wine and my thoughts. Not the 'best' way, but perhaps second best. Sometimes second best is as good as it gets.

Dream: the warmest wishes for your Valentine's Day are also on the way to you!

TG: you live on your sweet thought of her. Sometimes staying alone can avoid problems of diversity. Seem you don't want my bucket of cold water. Good luck!

Haaa... I don't want to die, so I have to keep myself from being a narcissist. Besides, my point of loving onself does not mean narcissi. Thanks, Rinpoche!
